The I Heart Revolution

Part apologetic, part documentary, part call to action, We're All in This Together is a story made up of many stories, told by many voices, no individual voice any more or any less important than any other, yet every voice working together to ultimately tell the ONE story: a story that involves everyONE; that seeks to capture our collective and idiosyncratic purpose in ONE.

Hillsong United began in suburban Sydney, Australia, as a bunch of teenagers playing music in a local church youth band. Over a decade later, they found themselves travelling the world, playing to crowds numbering in the tens of thousands representing different nations, different cultures, and different challenges.

As United criss-crossed the globe, they were confronted and ultimately overwhelmed by the stories of remarkable individuals facing injustice and the uncomfortable paradox of being united in worship yet divided in circumstance. They started to think—if their entire focus was directed only to what happens on stage, then maybe they had missed the point altogether.

As band member Joel Houston says …

“It’s not hard to see that there is this great imbalance and that things aren’t right. In the same moment you have a generation that is sitting around entertaining themselves while you have a child that is being prostituted behind closed doors and robbed of their innocence.

“There is a generation choking on obesity while 30,000 children will die today for lack of food. It’s not fair that we buy glorified tap water in a fancy bottle while entire communities suffer at the hands of disease because the only water they have access to is foul and polluted.

“Who are we to forget the down-trodden? To ignore the poor and needy? To forsake our own?”

Filmed over a period of two years, The I Heart Revolution: We’re All in This Together follows Hillsong United across six continents, 42 nations and 93 cities in a cross-cultural journey of music, animation, interviews and live action documentary as they realise every story of hope, love, loss and sacrifice ultimately points to the one story.

We’re All in This Together will officially be launched in cinemas across Australia on Wednesday 18 November. This premiere includes 30 minutes of exclusive footage of never before heard songs, plus an introduction from the band themselves.
