Crisis Alert: Heavy Rain (Nicaragua)

Heavy rainfall in Nicaragua has caused a bridge to collapse and several houses to flood on the plains of Barrio 19 de Febrero, home to approximately 6,400 residents and Benedicion De dios Child Development Centre.

The homes of several children attending NI-148 Benedicion De Dios Child Development Centre have suffered flood damage. Clothes, food and other household items have also been lost. Affected families have received groceries from the child development centre and support from the local government. The child development centre is also looking to provide more food and to replace shoes for children and school supplies.

So far, all children and staff members from this centre are safe.
