
CRISIS ALERT: FLOODING (BANGLADESH)
Heavy rains caused flooding near the city of Chittagong, Bangladesh on 26 June 2012. Local news sources confirm that seventy people were killed and the homes of many others were damaged. Seven child development centres near Chittagong have been affected:
- BD-501 Kalurghat Child Sponsorship Program
- BD-502 Bilchori Child Sponsorship Program
- BD-509 Bandarban Child Sponsorship Program
- BD-510 Malumghat Child Sponsorship Program
- BD-511 Banigram Child Sponsorship Program
- BD-515 Ramgorh Child Sponsorship Program
- BD-516 Khagrapur Child Sponsorship Program
To date, the homes of 74 children from these centres were damaged, and there families lost personal belongings. Of those, 13 children from BD-501 Kalurghat Child Sponsorship Program are sponsored by Australians:

Some families from BD-501 and BD-502 have sought shelter in the facilities of church partners. The affected families have been provided with food and water.
