Prayer
One of the greatest ways you can help your sponsored child is to pray for them regularly: pray for their good health, safety and education, and pray that they are loved and well cared for. You can also pray for Compassion’s project staff who work on the frontline of the child development programs – that they have the wisdom to assess your sponsored child’s personal situation and know how best to help them.
Why pray?
God cares deeply for his people and the world he created - he hates to see his children living in poverty, being exploited and abused. When we pray we are connecting with God, who is even more passionate than we are about correcting all that's wrong in the world.
To know and understand God, as in any relationship, we need to connect and spend time with Him. By praying we hear and are heard by God. Prayer has the power to stir people's hearts; prayer changes lives; prayer can help end poverty, abuse and exploitation.
Luke 18 makes it clear that prayer is not an option! Therefore, commit to praying for your sponsored child. You can also sign up to become a Compassion Prayer Partner or start a prayer group with your friends or family. It's one of the easiest yet most effective and vital things we can do in our fight against injustice.
Compassion Prayer Partners Network
We believe that our ministry to children in poverty is close to the heart of God. Therefore, we seek to serve God with honour and integrity in all that we do. Prayer is one of our Core Values and we rely constantly on the Lord’s guidance for direction to enhance and expand the ministry of Compassion.
Compassion’s Prayer Partners Network is integral in strengthening the ministry of Compassion worldwide and is made up of passionate Compassion supporters from all backgrounds with a desire to partner with us in prayer. Prayer is the most important way we can speak out on behalf of those who have no voice. It allows us to minister into the lives of children in ways that are powerful and eternal. Prayer can reach into the heart of issues that no natural force can touch. Prayers can impact the smallest child and the most powerful leader. As demonstrated by Moses in the Bible when he prayed on behalf of his people, prayer can save a nation.
As a prayer partner, you will be provided with a monthly prayer update to guide you in prayer for issues affecting Compassion-assisted children and the countries where they live.
We’d love you to commit to praying regularly for Compassion’s ministry. Prayer is strategic not only in changing the lives of individuals but of communities and ultimately nations.
Being a prayer partner doesn't require any specific talent, just a willing heart!

“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Mark 1:35 (NIV)
