Our People

Compassion Australia is based in Warabrook, NSW, and has regional offices in Perth, Sunshine Coast, Sydney and Melbourne. We now have over 150 committed team members and many more volunteers who offer their time, energy and skills to help fulfil our mission.

Compassion Australia is managed by our CEO, Tim Hanna, with the help of 10 department directors.

Our CEO - Dr Tim Hanna

Tim has been in pastoral leadership in Australian churches for 30 years, most recently as senior pastor of Gateway Baptist Church in Brisbane for 10 ½ years. He has also lectured with the Australian College of Ministries and gained his Doctor of Ministry along the way. His passion is to see the church grow, both relationally and in impact, and to empower those who find themselves without resources, choices and hope.

In 2008, Tim took on the role of National Director of Church and Mission with Compassion Australia before moving into a new role as CEO of Willow Creek Australia, a ministry committed to equipping Christian leaders throughout Australia and the world.

Married to Chris, they have nine children (yes, you read correctly) and 13 grandchildren (so far!) He loves family times, travel, and reading, and is a sports tragic, especially with regard to AFL, cricket and tennis.

Tim has been CEO at Compassion Australia since June 2010.
