Compassion Australia’s income grew by 28.71 per cent to just over $40m. 79.4 per cent or $31,796,865 was committed to child development programs. The overall percentage committed to program was slightly down on last year due to the profit on the sale of our former head office building which resulted in a year’s end operating fund surplus of $688,437. This significant one-off surplus will be used to repay the remaining debt on the new building, enabling Compassion to be debt-free by June 08. Our stewardship is reflected in a record return of $12.52 on every dollar spent on fundraising.
