Volunteer
There are many different ways in which you can volunteer with Compassion, depending on your skills, available time and passions!
Head office – Warabrook, Newcastle, NSW
Compassion Australia’s head office is based at Warabrook, Newcastle. If you live locally, then you are welcome to become a ‘Friend of Compassion’ by volunteering at head office. Compassion’s greatest need is always for volunteers to help process at head office the hundreds of thousands of letters being sent to and from our sponsored children. So if you don’t mind folding letters and stuffing envelopes while chatting to other Compassion volunteers, then we’d love to hear from you! - Contact Compassion Australia
However, Compassion’s operations also include the general type of work performed by most organisations: administration, customer service, human resources, IT, facilities management, finance, graphic design, marketing and communications. If you are skilled and experienced (or are currently studying) in any of these areas and have some spare time to offer, then we’d love to hear from you! - Contact Compassion Australia
Compassion’s regional offices
Compassion has offices in or close to all major capital cities (Sunshine Coast, QLD; Sydney, NSW; Perth, WA; Adelaide, SA; Melbourne, VIC) and always appreciates volunteers who can assist with administrative duties at these offices. Contact us if you have some free time and live close to these cities!
Volunteer at Compassion events
Compassion attends all major Christian events around the country including Hillsong Conference in July (Sydney, NSW), Colour Your World Women’s Conference in March (Sydney, NSW), Black Stump in October (Appin, NSW), Easterfest (formerly AGMF) at Easter (Toowoomba, QLD) plus Youth Alive events and many others throughout the year. Compassion is always in need of volunteers to work at the Compassion stand/display at these events. To volunteer at these events you must be an official Compassion volunteer advocate.
Become a Compassion volunteer advocate
Compassion volunteer advocates are Compassion child sponsors who have a heart for the poor and long to find other ways to improve the lives of children living in desperate poverty. They volunteer their time to promote and represent Compassion’s ministry in their church or school; recruit new sponsors; seek out new opportunities to present Compassion child sponsorship; share about Compassion child sponsorship with friends, family, neighbours and colleagues; look for new opportunities to raise awareness of the issues facing children in poverty and help sign-up new Compassion sponsors at conferences, conventions, partner artist concerts and other events.
