By Indian law, a charity cannot re-register while it’s on the prior approval list. But even if the government was willing to allow us to re-register, our legal counsel in India advised us that re-registering as a religious organisation would prevent us from being able to conduct humanitarian work and ultimately result in Compassion shutting down in India.
