The article says you’re trying to convert children to Christianity. Is that true?

Updated Wednesday 01 March, 2017

Compassion accepts and serves children and communities of all faith backgrounds (or no faith background), and categorically does not require or force conversion to Christianity at any time. Compassion’s primary mission is to release children from poverty, not convert them.

We are a Christian organisation and serve children in partnership with local churches. The Indian Government’s concerns seem to be that organisations from other countries are trying to change their rich culture, but it’s important to note we work with local staff within the local context, and our goal is to release children from poverty, not to force conversions. The benefits of our program are not linked to the children’s religious status or faith.
