Former Compassion sponsored child Richmond Wandera will share his inspiring story of overcoming poverty in Uganda as he travels around South Australia this month.
Kicking off 24 July, the tour provides a number of opportunities to hear from Richmond how Compassion child sponsorship changed his life, before concluding with a big event at Hope Church in Adelaide on 2 August.
“Growing up in a Ugandan slum, my family and I had very little food or money,” says Richmond.
“When it rained we didn’t sleep, we stood against the wall waiting for the rain to pass. My life changed when a 15-year-old girl decided to sponsor me through Compassion. Now I even sponsor a child myself.
“I am looking forward to sharing my story and how Compassion child sponsorship works as I travel around South Australia in July.”
Today Richmond is a university graduate, preacher and founder of the Pastors Discipleship Network which is training over 3000 pastors in East Africa.
“It is wonderful to have inspiring people like Richmond visit Australia and give first-hand accounts of how child sponsorship has changed their lives,” says Compassion CEO Tim Hanna.
“Compassion child sponsorship is seeing over one million children being released from poverty. This tour is a great opportunity to hear more about why child sponsorship works and be encouraged by Richmond’s story of how he was lifted from poverty.”
