The gifts featured in the Gifts of Compassion represent initiatives Compassion carries out to address the needs of children that require support beyond sponsorship. As each country and community in the developing world has their own unique challenges to address, what these initiatives look like and how much they cost can vary. This means your donation will be pooled with others to fund an initiative.
We work closely with our church partners around the world to make sure the gifts we’ve selected will make a big difference in the lives of the children and families in their communities. However, if at the time of purchase there isn’t a need for your chosen gifts, the funds will go towards a comparable, more urgent initiative.
We are committed to ensuring that the gifts from our Gifts of Compassion catalogue facilitate good development work. This means responding to the changing needs of the children and families in Compassion’s program around the world. If at the time of purchase there isn’t a need for your chosen gift, the funds will go towards a comparable, more urgent initiative. For example, if there was no current need for chickens, then your funds may go towards a pig or another farm animal.
No. Gifts of Compassion are different to the gifts you can send your sponsored child. Funds from the purchase of Gifts of Compassion are pooled to support a range of Critical Interventions that benefit many children and families and can't be directed to an individual child.
However, you can choose to send a gift specifically for your sponsored child by giving a child gift, family gift and/or birthday gift. One hundred per cent of these gifts will directly benefit your sponsored child and their family.
