Event: Compassion Advocate Training
Location: Compassion QLD Office, Unit 20/23 Ashtan Place, Banyo
Time: 7–9:00pm
Info: This Compassion Advocate Training will teach you more about Compassion and the practicalities of getting children sponsored, equipping you to help change the lives of children across the globe. Current advocates are welcome to attend for a refresher and you will also have the opportunity to try out our new Virtual Reality experiences.

Event: Poverty, Exploitation and The Internet
Location: Collins Street Baptist Church, 174 Collins Street, Melbourne
Time: 7:30pm–9:30pm
Info: The Justice Conference and Compassion Australia are proud to present ‘Poverty, Exploitation, and the Internet’, a Q&A featuring panellists Rev Tim Costello, Dr Allan Meyer, Melinda Tankard Reist and Danielle Strickland. The Q&A will explore the connection between exploitation and the internet in the context of extreme poverty and the developing world. It will also examine the implications in Australian culture that fuel these injustices.

Event: An Evening with Danielle Strickland

Info: Originally from Canada, Danielle Strickland currently serves in Los Angeles as The Western Territorial Social Justice Secretary for The Salvation Army. The author of several books, including A Beautiful Mess, Danielle Strickland is an exceptional communicator who inspires listeners to set aside their limited expectations and fall in line with God’s vision for their lives.

Event: Ride for Compassion Combined Church Gathering
Location: Albany Baptist Church, Bethel Way, Albany
Time: 5:30pm
Info: Join Compassion representatives and the Ride for Compassion team on the eve of their epic journey from Albany to Perth. You’ll hear about the ride from the participants and learn about their motivation to ride 524 kilometres. Rodney Olsen, a Compassion representative, will also share some inspirational stories from the field which highlight the work of Compassion.

Event: The Ride for Compassion
Cranbrook – Shire Supper Room, Gathorn Street
Katanning – Koobelya Conference Centre, Brownie Street
Wagin – Wagin Uniting Church, Ranford Street
Pingelly – Pingelly Family Church, Paragon Street
Time: 6:30pm ‘bring and share’ meal followed by 7:30pm town meeting
Info: The Ride for Compassion is an annual bicycle ride from Albany to Perth with all funds raised going towards the work of Compassion in releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name. This year there will be around 23 cyclists and a team of 6 travelling with them as a support crew. Along the way the team stops in different towns to share with people about why they’re riding over 500 kilometres. Come along to one of the town meetings for some good food, fellowship and to hear some incredible stories.

Event: Ride for Compassion Return Ceremony
Location: Thornlie Christian College, 19 Furley Road, South River, WA
. Time: 4:00pm–5:00pm
Info: Welcome the Ride for Compassion team home as they finish their 524 kilometre cycle from Albany to Perth. The ride is raising funds to build new latrines at two child development centres in Tanzania. Over their week long journey the team will share about the work of Compassion in the country towns along their route. Consider joining the team next year for a great time of fun, fellowship, and to support children living in poverty.

Event: Compassion Advocate Training
Location: Compassion WA Office, Unit 5/75 Erindale Road, Balcatta
Time: 6:00-9:00pm
Info: You know Compassion child sponsorship works – why not tell others about it too? As a passionate sponsor or supporter you are the perfect person to be a Compassion advocate. Compassion advocates are trained volunteers who speak up for children living in poverty. At our training session you will learn more about Compassion and the practicalities of getting children sponsored. You’ll leave equipped, inspired and encouraged to make a difference in the lives of children living in poverty around the globe. The training is free and dinner is provided.
