Connect your church with Compassion and help release children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

This means not only giving children food, shelter and water, but also the chance to discover God’s love.

There are lots of ways you can connect with Compassion, either as a congregation or an individual. However you choose to engage, your support will make an eternal difference in the lives of children, families and communities.

Compassion Sunday is a one-day event that will inspire your church family and friends to consider sponsoring a child with Compassion. By encouraging your church family to pray and take action in this way, you’ll be giving more children living in poverty the chance to participate in a Christ-centred, child-focused and church-based program in their local community. Compassion Sunday will help you and your church:

    • Respond to the Bible’s call to love and care for the poor
    • Spark a new sense of excitement for sharing the gospel all around the world
    • Engage practically and creatively with issues of poverty
    • Deepen prayer, worship and ministry

Join with churches and groups around the country for Compassion Sunday on 3 August 2014—or another date that suits your church's schedule.

When you engage with Compassion, your church will join a globe-spanning ministry working to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. Together, our mission is to respond to God’s call to serve the poor and share the gospel with the nations.

Your church will help to meet children’s most basic needs, like clean water and nourishing food. Most importantly, it will help give every child hope for their future and the chance to hear about Jesus—some for the very first time.

Your congregation will have the flexibility and freedom to support children in a way that complements your church’s individual interests and heart for the poor.

“Our church has been supporting Compassion for approximately five years now. We love the fact that it gives our congregation a practical way to make a difference in the world. Poverty is such a huge problem and Compassion makes it simple for every member of our church to do something about it."

“Partnering with Compassion has expanded our heart as a congregation to really look globally and to recognise that we can have an impact from our local region to the world. It’s increased our generosity, which in turn has grown our congregation. We are now looking outward, taking responsibility to look outside of ourselves—outside of even our own nation. I think it’s very healthy for people individually to really extend themselves and respond more proactively to the gospel message, which is to, ‘Go out into all the world and preach the gospel (Mark 16:15)’. By sponsoring a child with Compassion, we are preaching the gospel, which is fantastic growth for everybody and brings a real maturity to our church.”
