What types of gifts do children receive for Christmas?
Gifts may include food, clothing, shoes, school supplies, blankets, hygiene supplies or toys. Wherever possible, our church partners purchase the gifts within their own communities, encouraging local businesses and boosting the local economy.
In countries that are significantly affected by crises, including the global food crisis and COVID-19, it’s likely that staff will prioritise gifts that meet essential needs—for example, by selecting gifts like food or clothes rather than toys. If necessary, gifts may be given as direct cash so that a child's caregivers can decide how best to use the money to provide for their families.
Although $30 is the recommended donation amount to ensure that each child receives a suitable gift, you are welcome to give more. By giving more, you increase the value of every child's gift once financial donations are pooled and assist registered children who are still waiting to be sponsored. Receiving a gift at Christmas is a special opportunity for children to be shown God’s extravagant love.
