Jobs at Compassion include frontline positions that lead our engagement with churches, donors and supporters, plus a range of professional and support positions in areas such as customer service, marketing, finance, IT and HR.

Compassion Australia is managed by our CEO, Tim Hanna, with the help of the executive directors.

Compassion Australia is based in Newcastle, NSW, and has regional offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

Tim Hanna

Tim Hanna - CEO

Tim was a senior pastor for more than 30 years and a former lecturer at the Australian College of Ministries. In 2008, he took the role of National Director of Church and Mission with Compassion Australia before becoming the CEO of Willow Creek Australia. After serving there for two years, he returned to Compassion as CEO in 2010.

Tim is passionate about seeing the church grow and empowering those who find themselves without resources, choices and hope.

Janine Daly

Janine Daly - Executive Director of Supporter Engagement

Janine joined Compassion in 2009 as a Relationship Manager. After being made State Manager in 2011, Janine was promoted to Executive Director of Supporter Engagement in 2014. Janine joined Compassion with fifteen years’ management experience within the retail sector, having also worked in a local church in Newcastle as a Children’s Pastor.

In her current role, Janine leads the Supporter Engagement team which is responsible for engaging, delighting and supporting sponsors through their experience with Compassion.

Adam Holland

Adam Holland - Executive Director of Ministry Relationships

A Texas native, Adam’s management experience has been in a local government context, having also worked in churches and higher education. Adam joined Compassion in 2012 as Executive Director of Ministry Relationships.

In his role, he leads the Ministry Relationship section that engages directly with churches, Compassion Advocates, donors and supporters to see children lifted out of poverty.

Ben Dodd

Ben Dodd - Executive Director of Finance (Chief Financial Officer)

Ben joined Compassion Australia in January 2009 as Finance Facilitator. After moving into the Budget and Forecast Manager role, he was made Finance Director before being promoted to Chief Financial Officer in mid-2015. Ben is passionate about working for Compassion Australia because the ministry allows children to experience the kindness of God.

As Chief Financial Officer, Ben is responsible for growing, enhancing, and protecting Compassion Australia’s financial health and position, ensuring the ministry is sustainable for generations to come.

Deb Adams

Deb Adams - Executive Director of Ministry Services

Deb joined Compassion in 2006 as Human Resources Specialist after working in the same role at Hunter Water Corporation. After being made Human Resources Director in early 2007, Deb was promoted to Executive Director in 2011.

In her current role, Deb ensures the effective management of employment relationships at Compassion. She preserves a safe, enjoyable and fair workplace according to Compassion’s ministry goals and priorities.

Compassion Australia is a company limited by guarantee, with a Constitution that defines the organisation’s purpose, objectives and powers, and how income is to be applied.

It is the role of the Board of Directors to ensure we operate in accordance with the principles and commitments stated in our Constitution.

Dr John Bond

Dr John Bond - Chairman of the Board

Member of the Executive and Governance Committee Board member since 2002

John is a Minister of Religion and has worked with Youth for Christ International, Sports and Leisure Ministries and the National Lausanne Committee of World Evangelisation. He is currently serving as South Asia Pacific World Zone leader of Dynamic Church Planting International and is the Founding Director of Sonlife Ministries Inc.

Mike is the Founder and Director of Network Communications Pty Ltd and Australian Christian Channel Pty Ltd.

Isaac is a Director of Easterfest, Founder and Chairman of Family Week, Managing Director of preTHINK Pty Ltd and Vice Chairman of St Andrews Hospital Toowoomba.

Mabel Chua

Mabel Chua

Chairperson of the Culture and Capacity Committee Board member since 2012

Mabel holds a Masters of Laws, Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in accounting and finance. Mabel has extensive experience in the area of dispute resolution in corporate, property, commercial and estates matters. Prior to becoming the Legal Practice Director of M 6:8 Legal in Perth, Mabel was a partner at a multi-disciplinary boutique legal practice. Mabel has served in various leadership capacities in her local church and in the Christian community.

Sam Dewhurst

Sam Dewhurst is a strategic thinker, brand developer, qualitative researcher and communicator with over 20 years industry experience. Sam has been engaged as a CEO, Consultant, Director, speaker, TV + event host and curator, content creator, writer, coach, brains trust, problem solver + maverick. She has worked with c-suite teams across industries in Australia, UK and USA. Sam created Monostory in 2006 - a value- driven brand tool enabling organisations and individuals to live with purpose and clarity across every area of business and life. Sam is married to Tim and they have three children.

His advisory, communications and research company, McCrindle, count among its clients more than 100 of Australia’s largest companies and leading international brands.

Kent is Managing Director of Rock Property, Chairman of Pathways Tasmania and community radio station Ultra 106.5, Vice Chairman of Common Ground Tasmania and a Director of St Michael’s Collegiate School.
