What are the other types of gifts I can include in my will?
There are two other types of gifts you can include in your will: Specific and Pecuniary.
A Specific gift is a gift of a particular item of property which can be used by Compassion to generate funds, such as a home, shares or the proceeds of a named bank account.
Suggested wording for a Specific gift:
"I give [insert description of the item being gifted] free of all duties to Compassion Australia (ABN 67 001 692 566) for its general purposes † and direct that the receipt of the authorised officer of Compassion Australia will be a sufficient discharge to my trustees."
† To request that funds be directed to a specific program, replace the words 'general purposes' with the name of a specific Compassion program.
A Pecuniary gift is the gift of a set dollar amount determined by you at the time of making your will.
Suggested wording for a Pecuniary gift: "I give the sum of $ [insert amount] free of all duties to Compassion Australia (ABN 67 001 692 566) for its general purposes † and direct that the receipt of the authorised officer of Compassion Australia will be a sufficient discharge to my trustees."
† To request that funds be directed to a specific program, replace the words 'general purposes' with the name of a specific Compassion program.
