After taking the world stage at Eurovision, it was assumed that runner-up and crowd favourite Dami Im would stay in Europe to capitalise on her success. Instead, mere weeks later, Dami jumped on a plane to Uganda to meet her sponsored child, Jovia. Watch their beautiful meeting.

Since rising to fame after winning X Factor in 2013, Dami has been committed to using her platform to speak up for children living in poverty; she became a Compassion ambassador the following year.
Despite being told to stay in Europe to tour following her success at Eurovision, Dami instead fulfilled a promise she had made months early to go to Uganda to meet six-year-old Jovia and shine a light on the difference Compassion child sponsorship makes.
Channel Seven’s Sunday Night crew came along from the ride and also captured this heart-warming segment. If you missed Dami’s appearance on Sunday Night, you can watch it here.
Through Dami’s passion for child sponsorship, over 100 children were sponsored following the Sunday Night story! Thank you Dami!
