Does Compassion spend funds on marketing opportunities?
Yes, Compassion does spend funds on marketing opportunities to promote our work and enters into commercial arrangements for that purpose. These opportunities include advertising through TV, radio, digital media, social media, events and conferences. This is done to bring attention to the needs of the over 2.3 million children living in poverty supported by our 8,500 local church partners. In addition to word-of-mouth recommendations, these marketing opportunities are an effective way to further our impact and see even more children released from poverty.
Marketing opportunities are evaluated for their potential returns. We are committed to ensuring that about 80% of our annual donation income supports the children we serve through program development and delivery. The remaining 20% is spent on administration and related expenses, such as the costs of the marketing opportunities referred to above.
