1. Ask for God’s guidance

Pray and ask God to put someone on your heart who may be interested in sponsorship. Ask for His guidance as you approach people and ask them to consider sponsoring a child.

2. Share on social media

Use your social media platforms to advocate for children living in poverty and share your heart. Your friends, family and followers will love listening to your personal story with Compassion. Just one post may be the inspiration they need to start sponsoring a child!

3. Send a text message

Send a text to someone you think may be interested in sponsorship, telling them why you are passionate about the work of Compassion Australia and why you thought of them.

Here’s an example of a text message you can personalise:

Hi there! I wanted to reach out about something close to my heart.
Have you ever thought about sponsoring a child living in poverty?
I’m passionate about the work of Compassion Australia. They partner with local churches around the world to provide children with crucial resources like healthcare and education, as well as a chance to hear how much Jesus loves them.
I’m hoping to connect a child with a sponsor and thought of you! By sponsoring, you can make an incredible difference in a child’s life and build a relationship with them by exchanging letters.

4. Host a dinner party

Gather your friends and family around the table and start conversations that matter! Over a meal, share about issues facing children living in poverty, and ask your guests to consider sponsoring a child in response.

5. Reach out to your church or workplace

Do you have a church bulletin, or noticeboard in your workplace? Reach out to request a space for you to share about the power of child sponsorship. You may even wish to speak in your church service or staff meeting!
