How do I give a gift to help my sponsored child after a disaster?
If your sponsored child lives in an area that has recently been affected by a disaster or crisis, giving a monetary gift will make a tangible difference towards their recovery.
You can give a gift any time online in My Account:
- Log in to My Account and select the child’s photo
- Click ‘send a gift’
- Choose gift type, amount and payment method
- Click ‘confirm’
When you give an additional gift, 100 per cent of your donation will be given directly to the child, family or child development centre, depending on the type of gift. Local workers will consult with the family to help purchase something they need, so you can be sure your extra donation will have maximum impact.
You can give:
Child gifts Help meet your sponsored child’s most urgent need like food relief, replacement clothing or safe shelter in the aftermath of a disaster. You can give between $20 and $150 once a year.
Family gifts Assist your sponsored child’s whole family with their recovery. Your gift could help with temporary housing, medical care, food packs or another pressing need. You can give a minimum of $35 to a maximum of $1,500 either once only or up to four times per year. The total amount given across the year cannot exceed $1,500.
Child centre gifts Give crisis support that will benefit all children and staff at your sponsored child’s centre. Your gift could be used for infrastructure repairs, safe water, classroom furniture and more. You can give between $70 and up to $20,000 either once only or up to four times per year. The total amount given across the year cannot exceed $20,000.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness and care for your sponsored child during this time.
