How does Compassion support the education needs of children in poverty?
Every child and youth in Compassion’s program has the opportunity to receive education and learn an income-generating skill. But for many of these children, breaking the generational cycle of poverty requires a holistic approach.
That’s why Compassion's child development approach is multidimensional and addresses a child’s physical, emotional, spiritual and cognitive needs. Every child’s situation is unique. Utilising the generous donations of our supporters, Compassion partners with the local church to identify a tailored plan for each child to continue their educational development. This could mean helping with:
- Vocational training
- University education
- Education equipment and tools
- Transportation, housing or food costs relevant and necessary for a youth’s educational program
- Access to retreats, internships, job search training, sports camps, apprenticeships and skills development labs
The local church and Compassion staff know each individual child’s strengths, struggles and dreams for the future. They understand their specific education needs—and how meeting those needs can help them overcome poverty and reach their full God-given potential.
If you currently sponsor a child, why not write them a letter online today and ask about their studies and their plans for their future? This will help you to better understand their situation and how you can pray and encourage them.
