So how do we stay focused on pursuing justice when injustice feels too overwhelming, too impossible to overcome? We go to our ultimate source of truth—the Bible.
Here are six important reminders from the Bible about pursuing justice:
Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow. —Isaiah 1:17
Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. —Psalm 82:3
Blessed are those who act justly, who always do what is right. —Psalm 106:3
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy. —Proverbs 31:8-9
Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses. —Proverbs 28:27
He has shown you, O Mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. —Micah 6:8
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted us all, and it has not spared the children we serve. Together, we can pursue justice for children living in poverty—defending the weak and upholding the cause of the poor during this time of uncertainty and beyond.
Sponsoring a child is a powerful way to pursue justice for children living in poverty. When you become a sponsor, you’ll invest into the life of a child, helping them permanently break the cycle of generational poverty in their own families, communities, and nations. You’ll help show a child the love of Jesus, and that there is real freedom from the injustices of the world in Him.
