Tim's Blog: The Joy Of Christmas
With the Christmas Appeal in full swing, Compassion Australia CEO Tim Hanna shares the joy of Christmas.

Most of us know the familiar feeling of excitement on Christmas morning. Children bounding into their parents’ rooms, jumping up on the bed and asking if it’s finally time to open the gifts they’ve been waiting for.
Children living in poverty are often robbed of this excitement. When basic needs go unmet, the idea of a Christmas gift isn’t even a possibility. The reality is that for many people, Christmas can be a really difficult time and it’s easy to feel far from joyful. But I want to encourage you to remember that the good news of Jesus’ birth was promised to bring great joy for “all the people”.
This year, I’d love for you to join me in bring joy to children living in poverty. Together, let’s share the joy of Jesus’ birth by giving every child in Compassion’s programs a special gift and card.
Every year I am reminded of the joy your support brings to children living in poverty. When a child first finds out they are sponsored, when they receive a letter from their sponsor and then a gift for Christmas—these moments bring so much joy to children living in poverty. A joy that wouldn’t be possible without you, their sponsors.
Thank you for your love, support and prayers for children registered with Compassion’s programs.
