Ride for Compassion sees cyclists and support crew take to the road to help raise money for vulnerable children living in poverty, including those impacted by the global food crisis.
What is Ride for Compassion?
The 2022 event was a one-month, 4,200km journey from Perth to Newcastle, that began on September 17th and finished on October 19th. Cyclists rode from the beautiful beaches of Western Australia, across the rugged Nullarbor, to the bustling east coast city of Newcastle.
Each cyclist undertook extensive training before the event, paid for their on-road costs and raised funds for the work of Compassion. This year, the team raised more than $949,830 for highly vulnerable children, including those affected by the global food crisis, and saw 181 children sponsored through Compassion Australia.
You can still donate to this epic ride to help the team reach their $1,000,000 goal!
What is the global food crisis?
Conflict, extreme weather and COVID-19 have created a global food crisis that is having a devastating impact on children in poverty. According to the UN, the world is now moving backwards in its efforts to fight food insecurity and malnutrition. The number of people who need help is skyrocketing, but you can support our local partners as they feed hungry families.
It's impossible to know how long the global food crisis will last, but experts predict it could last years if action isn't taken.
