In Zambia, childhood is stolen by sickness. Malnutrition weakens children’s growth and development, and while many illnesses are treatable, poor access to medical care means they often become life-threatening. Without basic needs like clean water and proper hygiene met, the hope for a healthier future feels far away.

Poverty in Zambia

64%
of people live in extreme poverty
31%
of children under 5 have stunted growth
One third

Yet God's Church is on the move in Zambia. Local churches are places of healing, providing essential medical care and food support to help children recover from illness. They are leading a transformation in their neighbourhoods, providing clean water sources, safe sanitation facilities and critical hygiene training.

Impact in action

Maria and twins Michelle and Miracle

Change is happening across Zambia. Maria was struggling to feed her newborn twins Michelle and Miracle. Like millions of others in Zambia, drought meant their family would go to bed hungry. But the local church provided food packs at just the right time. Now she has planted crops that will feed her family into the future!

“Life was hard. We would eat at lunch and struggle to eat at supper. There was a time I lost hope with the drought and no food. While we were still struggling, the church stood by us. God made a way when there was no way. Food relief helped our lives stay strong despite the drought. My children are happy and healthy.”
Maria, mother of Michelle and Miracle
